At the age of 12, Joe took 6 months of guitar lessons and well, he just couldn’t figure it out. He soon switched over to drums, and found his musical calling. A year later, he and his brother Kevin started their first garage band, and Joe has never stopped playing in bands ever since.
In 2009, Joe built a small studio in his detached garage in downtown Pleasanton and started the Garage Band Academy. Within 2 years, he expanded and relocated to the current location on Boulder Court. The ages of the first students at the GBA ranged from 8 to 48, which is still the case today.
Joe founded the Garage Band Academy with the main goal of providing student musicians of all ages the opportunity to perform the music they love, and to learn some valuable life lessons along the way.
